Miss Uganda Natasha Nyonyozi Wins Beauty With a Purpose at Miss World 2025

Uganda is once again basking in global recognition as Natasha Nyonyozi, crowned Miss Uganda 2024–2025, takes home the prestigious Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) award at the 72nd Miss World pageant. This internationally respected accolade honors Natasha’s heartfelt advocacy for autism awarenessand social inclusion, a mission she leads through her nonprofit platform, the Nyonyozi Initiative. What makes this victory even more historic is that it marks consecutive success for Uganda in the BWAP category. In 2024, Hannah Karema Tumukunde was crowned Beauty With a Purpose Africa at the 71st Miss World pageant for her work promoting menstrual hygiene and keeping girls in school.

Natasha’s dedication to autism advocacy stems from a deeply personal place, her younger brother Ethan’s diagnosis with autism at the age of two. Confronted with societal misconceptions and stigma, Natasha launched the Nyonyozi Initiative to promote understanding and support for children with autism and their families.  Her efforts include organizing community events like the Autism Walk and Autism Run, partnering with special needs centers across Uganda, and engaging in policy discussions with the Ministry of Gender and Social Development in collaboration with UNICEF Uganda. Beyond advocacy, Natasha is also the author of Colours of the Spectrum, a book aimed at educating communities about the experiences of children living with autism and fostering empathy and inclusion.

Her journey underscores the evolving role of beauty pageants as platforms for meaningful change, where contestants leverage their influence to address pressing societal issues. Natasha’s work not only brings pride to Uganda but also inspires a broader conversation about inclusivity and support for neurodivergent individuals worldwide.
