Miss Namibia Wins Top Model From Africa at the 2025 Miss World Competition

Namibia is celebrating a historic achievement as Selma Kamanya clinched the Top Model Africa title at the 72nd Miss World pageant, currently underway in Hyderabad, India. This prestigious accolade not only secures her a spot in the quarterfinals but also marks Namibia’s most significant placement in the competition since Michelle McLean’s fourth runner-up finish in 1991.
The Top Model competition, a highlight of the Miss World pageant, showcases contestants’ elegance, confidence, and cultural representation. Kamanya’s captivating runway presence distinguished her among 108 contestants, earning her the Top Model Africa title. This victory propels her directly into the quarterfinals, positioning her as a formidable contender in the upcoming grand finale scheduled for May 31.
Selma first rose to national prominence when she won the Miss Namibia crown in 2018 at the age of 21. As part of her title, she represented Namibia at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand. She became known for her activism around mental health awareness and sustainability, gaining respect far beyond the pageant world.
By 2024, the Miss Namibia Organization had restructured its selection process to allow experienced titleholders and older contestants to compete for different international titles. Seizing this opportunity, Selma entered the competition again, this time with a stronger portfolio, clearer mission, and a wealth of experience. She was crowned Miss World Namibia 2025, earning the right to represent her country at the 72nd Miss World competition in Hyderabad, India.
